AdvocacyFundasaun Alola’s Women’s Resource Centre works tirelessly to campaign for women’s rights. We increase public awareness of the needs of women both in the local community and with decision makers. The work also seeks to address issues related to gender-based violence and raise awareness about the problems of human trafficking. |

Maternal and Child HealthIn Timor-Leste, many women lose their lives during childbirth due to limited resources. Fundasaun Alola’s Maternal and Child Health Program seeks to improve the safety and well-being of mothers and their babies. Through this program women are encouraged to give birth with appropriate medical support and provided with community-based health support networks. EducationAddressing the serious problems of illiteracy due to poverty and years of conflict is a priority. Fundasaun Alola’s Education program provides students with scholarships to cover fees and books, publishes books for pre-primary schools and assists teachers to improve their teaching skills. Economic DevelopmentFor the women in Timor-Leste, providing a sustainable livelihood for their families is a significant issue. Fundasaun Alola offers opportunities and assistance for women to gain the practical support and the skills they need. The Alola Shop in Dili is one such example, high quality Timorese products and textiles are sold at fair trade prices to support the women who create them and Fundasaun Alola’s ongoing work. |
